started working on Beat Blocks in the summer of 2006. The project is a
continuation of interests expressed in our previous works, many of
which have examined auditory experience in a variety of ways. Overall,
we attempt to explore social, cultural, and technological challenges.
We aim to create devices and installations that stimulate
inter-relational activities and communication both among parts of the
work and the visitors themselves. Play is also an essential element of
our work, as it helps in breaking down visitors' self-awareness and
social boundaries and more freely engage in collaborative processes.
More info about our other work can be found on our personal websites.
Somewhere down the line, Greg Zifcak joined us and gave us some great
advice on the musical aspects of Beat Blocks.
